Get Healthy Here!Healthy Shelby County launched the Get Healthy Here  campaign on August 24 at the Shelbyville-Shelby County Farmers Market!  Over the course of the next months, Get Healthy Here signage will begin to be seen at the many places where health and wellness may be pursued in Shelby County. 

The QR code on the signs will connect with the Get Healthy Here  website (under construction) where one can navigate a map of Get Healthy Here sites in the community.

Want your health and wellness organization to feature a Get Healthy Here  sign?!  In the future, a variety of Get Healthy Here signs will be available for purchase!  Interested in participating in the Get Healthy Here campaign?  Send us your information and as soon as the signs are available, we’ll contact you!

 

Healthy Shelby County Farmers Market Event

 

On August 24 Healthy Shelby County and the Shelbyville-Shelby County Farmers Market partnered in a healthy eating and physical activity event:  Get Healthy Here.  Enticed by the scent of grilling kabobs in the midst of the Farmers Market, around 400 people of all ages enjoyed a variety of fun and healthy activities!

  • Market bags with $4 of market bucks, compliments of Healthy Shelby County and Mainstreet Shelbyville
  • Cooking demonstration and samples by Chef Mark of Major Health Partners
  • Drawing for 2 Weber charcoal grills
  • Nutritional information for families of young children
  • Bounce house
  • Tricycle obstacle course by the Bike Trails Action Team
  • Drawing for a youth bicycle, baseball mitt and ball from the Aspiration
  • Bicycle helmets from The Bicycle Shop
  • Dance routine by Miss Jill’s School of Dance
  • Hula hoops and jump rope by Girls, Inc.
  • Zumba by certified instructors Theresa Hopper, Angela Badgley, and Kyra Anderson
  • Yoga by Lori Davis and the Parks Department’s summer Yoga in the Park
  • Tai Chi for Health by Dianna Pandak and Al Taylor
  • Drumming by Al Taylor and the Shelby County Athletic Club
  • Frisbees by Shelby County Drug Free Coalition
  • Health Screenings by Major Health Partners
  • Pork loin sandwich samples by the Bookmark Café
  • Meatball samples by Tour of Italy
