Christmas is Coming: The Salvation Army “Christmas Sign Ups” and “Coats for Kids”!

The Salvation Army - Doing the Most GoodEvery year The Salvation Army along with countless supporters and donors work hard to make Christmas possible for families in need in Shelby County. Last year alone The Salvation Army helped provide toys, clothing, and food to over 1500 people through programs such as “Toy Town”, “Angel Tree”, “Adopt-a- Family” and “Coats–for-Kids”.

With the months rolling along soon the cold weather will be upon us as a community. There are many kids across the county who need a winter coat to be able to go to school safely and enjoy the season. The Salvation Army is beginning its drive for “Coats for Kids” to help those kids who would otherwise not have a winter coat. Last year alone over 340 kids received a coat at The Salvation Army.

From October 1st thru October 28th The Salvation is in need of preferably “new” or “gently used” winter coats for boy and girls, 17 and under. To donate drop off: coats, gloves, scarves and hats at The Salvation Army Corps Community Center 136 E. Washington Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176 during office hours Monday thru Friday 9:00AM-4:00PM.

If individuals need help to make Christmas special for their family this year, or their child needs a winter coat, The Salvation Army of Shelby County is holding “Christmas Assistance” sign-ups and “Coats for Kids” sign ups 9:00AM-11:30AM, October 7th thru October 11th. For those who sign up (Oct. 7-11) a distribution appointment and additional information at a later date for both “Christmas Assistance” and “Coats for Kids” will be assigned.
